Traveling to Sicily – Trapani

Nowadays, travelling to common destinations has become quite cheap thanks to the competitive airlines that operate throughout the world.  Trapani is a city in Sicily and is very well knows as a fishery city.  The traditional food there is fish and it is a very relaxing and nice place to take a break and relax by enjoying the delicious delicacies of these cities and other attractions.  Trapani is located to the west of Sicily.

There is an airport in Trapani so one can arrive in this city directly in its airport.  Attractions include several architectural places to visit like:

Torre del Ligny – this is a tower that also includes a museum about history in it.

Torre del Mare – which in English means ‘Tower of the Sea’.  This tower is also fascinating and part of this town’s most popular old buildings. 

Trapani boasts ample of churches and this town also has its own cathedral which is called La Cattedrale di San Lorenzo. 

An example of the Churches located in Trapani is: La Chiesa del Purgatorio which is full of beautiful sculptures and is ideal to be visited by all those fond of sculptural items and architectural art.  In total, this Church has twenty statues made from wood.  These statues are then taken out and carried by citizens in the streets every year during the Easter’s procession. 

In this city, one may visit the Sanctuary which in Italian is called Santuario dell’ Annunziata which also includes interesting architectural spots. 

Trapani is also very popular for the concerts and operas held especially during the summer period and are usually held in Villa Margherita’s park.  Trapani also has its own feast which was named after a patron saint, Saint’ Alberto and this feast is held every 7th of August.  A few days after, there is also another feast named Feast of Madonna di Trapani.  Feasts in Trapani are celebrated with processions and also fireworks.
