Bermuda, is it a Caribbean Island?

Bermuda is a hook-shaped set of about 138 islands, which are connected together by bridges. Bermuda consists of hills, fertile depressions, interspaced by a set of waterways. We can find most of the beaches in the southern shore of the islands as they are exposed to the ocean’s swell, unlike the northern shores, which are relatively sheltered.

We can see that Bermuda is divided into nine parishes, which are St. Georges Parish, the area of the historic town of St. George.  The Hamilton Parish is the area in which we can find the Bermuda Aquarium, Zoo and most of all the Crystal Caves. In Smith’s Parish we can find the Devil’s Hole Aquarium, Spittle Pond Natural Preserve and is also the home of Flatts Village. The most quite part of the Bermuda is the Devonshire Parish. The city of Hamilton is located in the Pembroke Parish and in the Paget Parish we can find most of the Hotels and Resorts, plus the Elbow beach, Paget Marsh and Bermuda Botanical Gardens. If you want to play Golf or go for horseback riding on the island’s best cliffs then you should go to the Warwick Parish. For the best beaches and a nice photo with the Gibbs Lighthouse visit the Southampton Parish. Sandys Parish is home of the Royal Dockyard fortress and shops, Somerset Village, Fort Scaur, Gilbert Natural Reserve and also some nice beaches.

In my opinion the best time to make your trip to Bermuda is from Spring to Autumn, so you’ll find nice weather. Many of you might think that Bermuda is a Caribbean Island, but actually it’s not in the Caribbean Sea and the climate is different. What give the Bermuda a Tropical atmosphere is the warm waters of the Gulf Stream.

Accommodation in Bermuda

Hotels and Resorts in Bermuda are normally quite expansive, but you might choose to choose to stay in smaller guestroom hotels or in a Bed and Breakfast style accommodation. The negative part of visiting Bermuda is that accommodations are quite expansive and airfares are not cheap, which can cost twice to five times more expansive then most of the Caribbean islands.
